First Time Papa

Gabbie misses her Papa

October29

Papa Jee is out of town on a working trip to KK Sabah since yesterday morning. So I’m taking care of Gabbie for 2 nights, until Papa Jee is back (tomoro night~ Yay!! :P )

Yeah, you heard me right.  Hehe..

Papa Jee takes care of Gabbie most of the time, especially during the night.  He totally adores her and is endeavor to spend as much time as he can with her whenever he’s free.  He’ll always try to come home earlier to spend time & plays with her before she enters her sleep mode by 7pm/8pm-ish.  He takes care of her needs throughout the night.  Nowadays she only wakes up 2 times for her milk, one between 11-12 midnight and another around 3am-4.30am ;)

LUCKY me and Gabbie, to have such a devoted & caring Papa/Husband! ^.^  We’re indeed so Blessed.

So its only natural for Gabbie to bonds and loves her Papa a Lot.. but we’re not prepared for her to missed him O.o  After all she is only 7 months old~  and he has only been gone for 2 days..  Right??

Well, we’re about to be proven quite wrong.. >.<

Day 2 :  After not seeing her Papa for 2 days & 2 nights consecutively.. we think she really do misses him. According to my MIL, earlier towards the evening she was a tad cranky.  She was all clingy and wants to be held on.. which is quite normal on the rare occasion when she gets into her “manja” mode.  We thought no more of that ..

Anyway a while later, she fell asleep in my MIL bedroom so after I had my dinner & showered I carried her back into our room.  As I put her down to her crib, she tosses and turns a bit.  On normal days she would just take a quick glance to see where she is and proceed to go back to sleep very quickly.

But earlier on, she opened her eyes, took a look at me.. and after some more toss and turns, got visibly upset. >.<  She turns and looks around and starts to whines and tears starts to fall from her eyes!  Thinking she was hungry I took her out of her crib.

By the time we got to the living room, her eyes were all red and her face was wet from the tears.. Gosh!  And all the while she didn’t really cried out loud or fuss.. she just whines and looks SO sad & unhappy.  My heart just went out to her.. so Kolien .. =(

Sad Sad Gabbie

My MIL too one look at her and exclaimed, “You misses Daddy is it??!!”.  O.o’   Leave it to the seasoned Pro to interpret babies at a glance! Haha..  Anyway, I even called Papa Jee and put him on speaker mode. The very moment she heard his voice, recognition flash across her face and she was looked around the room to find the source of the her Papa’s voice.. but after frantically looking for awhile  she got upsets again. :(

Unhappy Gabbie :(

Unhappy Gabbie :(

So we brought her back to the room and my MIL lay her on Papa Jee’s pillow and even took one of his clean shirt and give it to her as blankie. Hahaha.. I was still quite skeptical on how my 7 months old baby can misses her Papa..  but she does seems to visibly quiets down and stopped whining after that though. @.@

Although she still looks unhappy..but she did stops crying and whining.. and kept fingering her Papa shirt all the while.. MIL says she can smells the familiar scents of her Papa (Eau de JEE ? ) and get comforted >.<

After tossing and turning a bit more (it took longer than usual) she gradually settle down and slowly drift off to sleep.

So as I sat there and watch her sleep, I realised that Papa Jee is not only an integral part of my lifes.. he’s an important part of baby Gabbie little lifes too..

Gabbie sleeping Peacefully~

Gabbie sleeping Peacefully~ dreaming of Papa I hope :)

In the months following her birth, Papa Jee has not only played an active role as a doting Father to her.. but also a very caring husband to me. :)

Papa Jee and I had gone a long way.. 12 years and counting ;)  For Papa Jee (myself inc) and Gabbie, it has only been 7 months+8 days.

But be it a 11 years Love relationship; or a 7+months Parent & Child bond.. time or duration is not the essence.   The 3 of us, we are connected by an unbreakable and invisible thread, interwoven into each other’s life and thoughts..

We are a FAMILY..

Theme Changed!

October8

You peeps may have notices that my blog ’skin’ got changed again :P

As much as I liked the first One that Papa Jee customised for me.. the layout was kinda restrictive and narrow.

Theme #1

I love this template..especially with the HandDrawn bear that Papa Jee created just for the blog.. insprired by one of Gabbie’s baby outfit that we liked so much ^.^

The Original Bear

The Original Bear

But leh, I feel that template layout is not ideal..

===========================

So he changed to the other one..

Theme #2

Theme #2

This one looks really clean and nice..although I do really misses my Bear design..

But since Papa Jee has no time to customised it, I’m fine with it.  But I realised one thing after using it a while..there are no Comments option?? O.o

Meaning my friends are unable to comments on what I wrote.. so where the Fun of writing when ppl cant feedback and reply your ‘questions’?? Hahaha…

Aih.. so leh..I dont want to revert back to the Original template..  so Papa Jee reverted to this template for the moment lah.

Its design too *gypsy-ish” for me liking. =\  Not enough Cuteness & Sunshine to it. Hehe..

But I suppose  until  Papa Jee can find time to iron out the kinks from the earlier 2 templates..this will have to do for now loh.   :)

To harness or Not to harness?

September30

Have any of you parents (or parents to be) ever considered on the use of a child safe harness or child tether?

What is That?? I may heard u Asked.. :P  So this is what Wiki has to says :

A child harness (alternative: child tether, British English: walking reins) is a safety restraint for walking with small children. The device is primarily used with toddlers and children of preschool age, and typically consists of a shoulder harness with a lead (tether) secured in the back, either directly or by means of a hook.

When the device is used, a child wears the harness and a parent or a guardian holds the end of the lead or attaches it to their wrist. This allows the child relative freedom of movement in comparison to being seated in a stroller, carried by the adult (with or without a child carrier), or being held by the hand. At the same time, the child harness prevents child separation from the adult by the way of the child running off in a crowded or dangerous area.

There exists a difference of opinion on the use of child harnesses. Those in favor argue for the benefit of enhanced safety, and increased freedom of movement compared to hand-holding or confinement of children to strollers. Those opposed to their use argue against restraining children, in favor of hand-holding. The child safety argument has been winning over in recent years and the use of the safety harness has increased.

I remembered back when I was still very much single and without a child .. I came across a Mummy who was shopping at Parkson with her toddler son (maybe 3-4 years old).  I still have vivid recollection of  that day.

Its was at the children department in Riverside’s Parkson Grand and as it was a sales period and a weekend, it was pretty crowded.  The mummy was standing at one of the pumpkin patches in the baby & kids section choosing out bargain clothings (no doubt for her little darling).  But what made her stands out is that she had a leash extending from her wrist.. and attached to the other end of the leash is her little Son!  I remembered I was quite taken aback! @@  The first impression that came to my mind was.. “OMG..why is she doing that to her son?? Its a human child.. Not a Pet!”

However don’t get me wrong. I’m not condeming the use of child harness.. this thought was back when I was still very single and carefree and could not understands the working minds of a Parents :P

The child that I saw back then does not seems to be in any distress or being mistreated. In fact, both the Mummy and her Son seem very much at ease. The mummy is happily shopping (assuming alone) and is able to keep an eye to her little son who is safely tethered closely to her, and her son is able to roam about freely within the safety radius without the risk of getting lost in the throng of shoppers.

Happy Damian & his Harness! :D

The revelation on how useful it is come when my good friend/colleague Rachel tells me about her super-active son Damian.. who actually REQUESTED to be put on a harness during one of their family trip to a mall in KL! Her son is extremely active and he likes to run about .. however he’s also very clever.

He do understands the risk of getting separated from his parent in a big mall (Midvalley)! So therefore he asked his mummy to put him on a harness.. so that he still can roams and explore on his own (without being held and restrained by hand) and yet still safely with his watchful eyes parents at all time.

However, there are some strongly-opposing opinions on this same topic, as highlighted in this post - http://www.silverdragon.com/punkie/cybertusk/leash.html

I do agree with it to some extend.. however I also believe that everything is to be done in moderation.  I do think that if the child harness are used moderately as long as the Parents and Child are comfortable.. it maybe beneficial :)  I read from a website.. and do agree to the statements below :

Your child can disappear in a flash.  Keep your little adventurers safe and close by.  Have peace of mind while traveling, in a parking lot, on a busy street, or at the zoo or theme park without the confinement and inconvenience of a stroller.

That being said.. I’ve recently bought a cute one for my Gabbie.. Its in a shape of a softtoy Cow (can double as a small bag pack).  Hehe.. I hope she’ll like tt ^.^

moo-moo Cow safety harness

I suppose that answers your question on what is my Stands on this particular Issue? Hahaha..! :P

Congratulations Eyon & Wendy! ^_^

Time is too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity.

~ Henry Van Dyke ~

This post is unique because it will not be about Me, Papa Jee or even our Gabbie.  Its all about Jee’s childhood friend Eyon (who we also have the honor of having as our bridal car Driver) and Wendy (his very lovely & talented wife-to-be)!  :D

The lovely couple drop by our house last Saturday evening and presented us with a  Save-the-Date cupcake!

For those of you that are wondering what is it for, this is what Wiki has to say :)

A save the date notice is an item stating the date of a wedding or other formal event. It typically states the date when a couple plans to marry, so that recipients will know to keep that date free. Save the dates usually take the form of a card, but can also be a refrigerator magnet or similar item. They are generally sent out at least six months before the wedding date, and are usually followed by a formal wedding invitation.

WoW!! This is the first time ever that we’ve receive a Save-the-Date token and it is even made more special by the fact that the cupcake was personally bake & prepared by Wendy herself for this special occasion!

Check these pictures out!

Behold the Beautiful Cupcake packaging~ ^.^

It’s SO special and pretty that I have to forbid Papa Jee from gobbling the beautiful creation until we’ve taken enough pictures of it to show you all!

Save the Date for the BIG day~ : 17 Dec 09! :D

What IS IT with Guys anyway?  I mean, when we ladies sees a Pretty confection.. we would be too reluctant to even eat it..  but for the Guys, all they can think of is to EAT it straightaway! O.o   No appreciation at All ~  =_=”

But at then end, we DID eat it because it’s so deliciously tempting!  We were both having so much good time tasting the cupcake that I didn’t get to take any photos of the cake itself  without the packaging. =P

Its Beautiful to Behold~ And tasted Heavenly too! YUM! :P~

Hahahah..~  The cupcake tasted Wonderfully Delicious as it is Wonderfully Pretty to behold!!

I am very particular when it come to cakes with Butter Icing because I hate overly sweet and oily things.  So ultimately I’ll never eat cake with butter cream toppings.. but for Wendy’s special cupcake I made an exception  :P  AND surprise! Surprise!! = The butter cream does not taste too Oily or Sweet!! O.O”  One can only wonder HOW she does that~~~   And much to our delight, the chocolate flavoured cupcake comes with a melted chocolate centre.. and it tasted sooo Sinfully delicious..  I still drool when I think of it~  Oh~ So Yummy!

Oh did I mention tht she is very very talented?  :P  Wendy is the proud owner of www.wgoodthings.blogspot.com and if you are dying to taste of of her special Cupcake creation you can try your luck to contact her.  However I would expect that she would be very busy preparing for her upcoming Big Day!  :P

We’re so very happy for Eyon & Wendy.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Both of You!!

light of faith, water of sincerity and air of passion.
